This study sought to examine the impact of two Teen Courts operating in Los Angeles County, a juvenile justice system diversion program in which youth are judged by their peers and given restorative sentences to complete during a period of supervision. The goal of the evaluation in each site was to assess the effect of the teen court process on the perceptions and behavior of youth defendants. Youth courts serve as immediate intervention with minor offenders who can be diverted from the juvenile justice system.
